Music Institute at Carrollton Square is an exciting new music school in Historic Downtown Carrollton, —in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex. Currently enrolling students in private and group music lessons for all ages. We specialize in piano lessons, guitar lessons, voice lessons, and music theory classes. We offer a wide variety of programs of study. Our private lessons are enriched by our signature Comprehensive Musicianship Program, which is designed to help you become a dynamic musician.

Summer Camps 2016

Full day camp 9am-4pm (Students need to pack their own lunch): $400 ($100 non-refundable deposit due at registration)
Half day camp 9am-12:30pm: $200 ($50 non-refundable deposit due at registration)

June 6-10: Summer Safari Music & Arts Camp, Ages 4-6
Students in this camp will learn the basics of music and art. Each day of our safari we will discover a new animal who will teach us a bit of what they know about music and art. Students will move, sing, write songs and create their own instruments.

June 13-17: So You Want to be a Composer? Ages 6-8
Young piano students will love writing their own music. In this course, students will compose their own music throughout the week and will get a chance to share their ideas with others. Students will have time to work on their own pieces at the piano, brush up their knowledge of the basics, create music for the water xylophone and more!

June 20-24: Praise & Worship Piano, Ages 13+
Students will learn the basics of playing in a church worship band. How to keep rhythm, play from a chord chart or lead sheet, and how to improvise during prayer are just a few of the topics that will be covered.

June 27-July 1: Jump Start to Music Lessons, Ages 6-8
Students of all instruments need a solid foundation in rhythm, listening, and notes. Students will learn these ideas through movement and games preparing them for their first (of fiftieth!) music lesson.

July 18-22: Journey Through Time: Music Appreciation, Ages 7-10
Students in this camp will learn what makes each composer so unique. They will explore the music and lives of composers from the 17th century to the present. Guided discovery will allow students to become more informed listeners and informed listeners make better performers.

July 25-29: So You Want to be a Composer? Ages 9-11

August 1-5: Basic Songwriting and Improv, Ages 10-14
Students will create their own music in this fun and challenging course. Improvisation will help them create music on the spot, while focusing  on songwriting will help them to craft a song over time. We will explore the basic elements of song-writing, including text, harmony, melody, rhythm and how these all work together.

August 8-12: Praise and Worship Piano, Ages 13+

August 15-19: Advanced Musicianship, Ages 13-17
Students seeking to advance their theory and aural skills will benefit from this course taught by Leonardo Zuno. Mr. Zuno is a Teaching Fellow in music theory at UNT and has a wealth of knowledge that will benefit pre-college musicians seeking their full potential. The techniques and skills covered will enhance your ability to understand music, play be ear, compose and more!
