Bethany Lorentzen - Voice
Bethany Lorentzen is a classically trained mezzo based in Dallas, TX with experience ranging from Sondheim to Scarlatti and credits in regional theatre, music videos, and a new web series.
Bethany's most notable roles to date include Laurey (Oklahoma! - AriZoni Winner - Best Actress in a Non-Contracted Musical), Dorothy (Wizard of Oz), Little Red (Into the Woods), Kathy (Company), and Philia (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum). She also joined Phoenix Theatre and Nearly Naked Theatre as Thea in their regional premiere cast of Spring Awakening.
While pursuing a degree in Music Theatre Performance at Arizona State University, Bethany studied under Judy May, Robert Kolby Harper, and Dale Dreyfus. During her time in Arizona, she was lucky enough to work under the direction of the legendary Don Bluth of Disney and Fox Animation Studios fame. Bethany also worked with the late Damon Intrabartolo to originate the role of Marissa in the workshop and demo recording of his final musical, Plop!.
After her run as Fantine's understudy in Phoenix Theatre's revival production of Les Miserables, Bethany made her Dallas debut with the Firehouse Theatre as Cinderella in their staging of Into the Woods. Thanks to a history of competitive gymnastics, she was able to grace the stage as the contortionist Snake Lady in Nearly Naked Theatre's Sideshow and a bendy slinky in Arizona Broadway Theatre's Miracle on 34th Street. Along with Plop!, Bethany has originated multiple roles, including Colette (Shakespeare in Vegas - world premiere) and both Princess H and Sarah (Invincible - demo recording).
Bethany’s teaching methods focus on the bel canto style, but she is also proficient in pop/musical theatre belt and jazz. Along with vocal technique, Bethany is skilled in teaching sight reading, solfege, and basic music theory.
